The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, has announced the commencement of the decision to saudize 25% of engineering professions, starting from July 21, 2024. This saudization percentage will be applied to private sector establishments that employ five or more workers in engineering professions.  This initiative aims to create more stimulating and productive job opportunities for male and female citizens across various regions of the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has clarified its commitment to monitoring and enforcing this decision to enhance participation in the labor market. The Ministry will oversee its implementation to align with labor market requirements and the specialization of engineering professions.

Additionally, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing confirmed that private sector establishments will benefit from the incentives and support programs offered by the human resources and social development system. These programs include  support for the recruitment process and finding suitable workers, necessary training and qualification processes, employment and job retention, and prioritization for all available localization support programs. Furthermore, support and employment programs through the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) will also be accessible.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has issued a procedural guide detailing the saudization requirements, professions, and the required percentages on its website. The Ministry emphasizes the necessity for establishments to adhere to and comply with these provisions to avoid regulatory penalties for non-compliance.
