The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the adoption of the new engineering job scale, which will be implemented starting December 31, 2024. The scale targets government employees holding engineering positions as per the Unified Saudi Occupational Classification, specifically those on the general employment scale and holding a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from Saudi or internationally recognized universities.
The new engineering job regulations and salary scale include several developmental aspects for the engineering sector. This includes transitioning engineers from the general employment scale to a professional career path on the new scale, categorized into specific professional engineering levels:  Engineer, Associate Engineer, Professional Engineer, and Consulting Engineer. This structure aligns with the Engineering Professions Practice Law, accreditation by the Saudi Council of Engineers, and the Unified Saudi Occupational Classification. The updated salary scale is expected to create an attractive and motivating work environment for engineering talents in the public sector while elevating the level of professional practice among engineers.
