On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Mr. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Majid, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, received Dr. Rita Columbia, the representative of the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office in the Kingdom, and her accompanying delegation at the Ministry's headquarters.
During the meeting, they discussed areas of mutual cooperation and future partnerships between the two sides. They also explored ways to support the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and enhance opportunities for women's empowerment in society.
Mr. Al-Majid also briefed the representative of the United Nations Office in the Kingdom on Saudi Vision's objectives in empowerment and social development, as well as its efforts to increase its contribution among members of society.
The United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom praised the efforts of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for leading the process of developing the national strategy for child protection in Saudi Arabia. She emphasized that this strategy will bring forth best practices from other countries in the region and will lead to the Kingdom's participation in regional and global platforms under the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for International Affairs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Social Security and Empowerment, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Strategic Affairs and Vision Achievement.
This meeting comes as part of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development's efforts to enhance its international cooperation, strategic partnerships, and integrated relationships at the international level. It aims to foster knowledge exchange and benefit from the experiences of friendly countries and experts in the same field. Through such collaborations, the Ministry seeks to further develop its policies and initiatives, ultimately contributing to the advancement of social development and human resources on a global scale.
