The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs and Housing, announced the decision of Saudization of Engineering Professions in the Private Sector by 25% as of 21 July 2024. The new decision will be applicable to private sector establishments with 5 workers in engineering professions. The decision is part of the efforts made by the two Ministries to provide more stimulating and productive job opportunities to male and female Saudis in various regions of the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs and Housing announced that it would monitor and implement this decision, which enhances the participation in the labor market, in a manner that is compatible with market requirements in terms of the engineering profession specialties.

The Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs and Housing also confirmed that the private sector establishments would benefit from the incentives and support programs provided by the HRSD system to assist the establishments in employing Saudis, including support for the attraction process, search for suitable recruits, support for the necessary training and qualification process, and the recruitment and retention process. In addition, benefits should be drawn from all Saudization support programs provided by the system, as well as support programs through the Saudi Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf).

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development also issued guidelines detailing the required Saudization, the professions and ratios on the Ministry's website, emphasizing the need for the establishments to comply with the provisions thereof, in order to avoid the statutory penalties against violators.
