His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abu Thaneen, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor Sector, participated in the high-level virtual global symposium on occupational safety and health in the work environment, which was held by the International Labour Organization on April 28, 2023, in conjunction with the Organization’s celebration of the World Day for Occupational Safety and Health at Work.

His Excellency began his speech by praising the Organization's continuous efforts to maintain labor’s safety by adopting a global strategy for occupational safety and health, as well as providing a safe and healthy work environment, in accordance with the basic principles and rights at work. His Excellency touched on the most prominent outputs of the Saudi labor market represented by the launch of the National Strategic Program for Occupational Safety and Health emanating from the Saudi Labor Market Strategy and the Kingdom's Vision 2030. As this program seeks to coordinate efforts and integrate roles with public, private and non-profit entities and sectors; in order to raise the levels of compliance with occupational safety and health standards in the Saudi labor market.

It is worth noting that more than 22 initiatives have been launched to develop the reality of occupational safety and health practices and to enhance the establishments' commitment to occupational safety and health requirements by providing cadres and developing capabilities in this field, as well as developing technical support opportunities through electronic services, in order to ensure the health and safety of workers in light of diversity and expansion to reduce work-related injuries and diseases, as it is an inherent right of the worker, seeking to make the Saudi labor market attractive to local and international talents and capabilities.
