The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) and the Saudi Industrial Property Authority ‘Modon’ have started to carry out joint inspection rounds on establishments located in the industrial cities on Sunday.

The move will focus on women employment and provision of a suitable work environment, as well as occupational safety and health, targeting Riyadh, Makkah and the Eastern Province.

The ministry said the inspection rounds will target further industrial cities in other regions in the upcoming phases.

The Ministry and Modon signed last month an agreement to develop the work environment into a safe, proper and healthy one, which comes within the implementation plan of the National Transformation Program.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Khaled Abalkhail emphasized the ministry’s keenness to ensure safety and health of workers in establishments, as well as make sure employers apply OSH conditions and provide a safe work environment which is clear of incidents and injuries.

Meanwhile, the joint inspection campaigns initiated by the ministry and Modon are in a bid to make sure industrial companies adhere to the OSH regulations and principles, provide an appropriate work environment for women and enhance awareness of prevention among employers and workers as well as importance of OSH conditions.

Abalkhail said the ministry is keen to impose sanctions against violators of OSH regulations as per the Labor Law, adding fines can be slammed up to SR25,000 which get increased by the number of workers.

He urged customers to contact the customer service No. (19911) if they have inquiries and complaints related to OSH violations which will be forwarded to the Department of Inspection and Development of Work Environment in order to take necessary measures.
