Labor inspection teams of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development detected 6,849 violations related to the third phase of enforcing the decisions aiming to nationalize and feminize women-only shops, which is in cooperation with several government entities.
MLSD Spokesman Khaled Abalkhail said the number of nationalization violations stood at 1,643, compared to 4,210 of feminization violations and 996 of labor violations, adding the labor inspectors issued 6,034 warnings during these rounds.
The labor inspectors implemented 36,543 rounds on commercial centers and independent stores across the Kingdom to make sure private-sector establishments comply with the third phase of enforcing the two decisions.
The spokesman clarified that the inspection rounds uncovered 27,553 compliant establishments which represents 75 percent of the total establishments compared to 8,990 uncompliant ones (25 percent).
Abalkhail urged customers to report violations or submit inquiries related to the labor market through contacting the customer service no. (19911) or the ‘Ma3an lil Rasd’ app on smart phones.
Meanwhile, the third phase of the decisions kicked off on Oct. 21 (the beginning month of Safar) to nationalize and feminize shops selling women-only necessities, including perfumes, shoes, bags, women socks, ready-to-wear cloths, kiosks and women fabrics and department stores selling women cloths along with other staples.
It also targets small independent stores that sell soiree gowns, wedding dresses, Abaya (cloaks), accessories, Jalabiyas (traditional dresses) and mother-care products, as well as including pharmacies with sections that merchandise accessories and cosmetics.
In support of the move, the Human Resources Development Fund has offered an array of services for female workers through the children hospitality program ‘Qurrah’ and the transportation program ‘Wusool’ in order to increase the number of Saudi women in the workforce and curb unemployment among them.
