His Excellency Eng. Ahmad bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, met with Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), on the sidelines of the second edition of the Global Labor Market Conference held in Riyadh. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain, Deputy Minister for Labor, along with several distinguished ministry officials.
The meeting witnessed the signing of a groundbreaking framework agreement—the first of its kind—between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the ILO. The agreement aims to facilitate the participation of Saudi professionals in the organization through the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) and Secondment programs. This initiative will open new opportunities for Saudi talents to gain international experience in labor standards and workplace policies.
The agreement aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic objectives under Vision 2030, which seek to develop national human capital, enhance Saudi representation in global organizations, and empower local professionals to contribute to shaping international labor policies.
This collaboration underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships, leveraging global expertise to develop its labor market, and fostering sustainable economic growth.
