The 3rd Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting under the G20 Indian Presidency concluded its third meeting on last Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at the International Labour Organization (ILO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, extending the G20's works and effort to draft the Ministerial Communique on work and employment and its associated documents, planned to be approved in the Employment Ministerial Meeting scheduled to be held in Indore, India, on 21 July, 2023.

The Kingdom’s participating delegation was headed by the HRSD’s Deputy Minister for Skills and Training, Dr. Ahmed Alzahrani, in collaboration with the Assistant Deputy of Saudization Tamkeen, Eng. Muhnad Alissa and specialists from the International Affairs Agency.

Both the Organisation for the Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) reviewed the member states’ progress towards achieving “Brisbane Goal” for bridging the gap between both genders regarding the rate of participation in labor market and Antalya Goals for increasing the rate of youth’s participation in the labor market. The Indian Presidency’s priorities, of this year, focused on processing the global gap in skills, sharing economy and social protection platforms and sustainable financing for social insurance.

The Meeting witnessed a set of discussions which contributed to enriching the Ministerial Communique draft in preparation of finalizing the draft in the next G20 meeting which precedes the Employment Ministerial Meeting. The Kingdom’s delegation provided main inputs during drafting the Communique and its annexes. Besides, the delegate met a group of representatives of the member states and the international organizations.
