The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) today organized a specialized workshop titled “Review and Discussion of Occupation and Skills Planning Outcomes.” The event was held under the supervision of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Abuthnain, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor. The workshop brought together several dignitaries, including high-ranking officials, representatives from various public and private sector entities, and heads of sectoral skills councils. Also in attendance were a distinguished group of experts and specialists from international organizations.

His Excellency Dr. Abuthnain, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of strengthening integration among national entities in the planning of occupations and skills. He highlighted that such coordination is essential to keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the labor market and achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. He also stressed the significance of leveraging modern data and analytics to build an effective and sustainable national skills ecosystem.

The workshop featured a comprehensive presentation by Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani, Deputy Minister for Skills and Training, in which he highlighted the Ministry’s key achievements in building skills frameworks, developing relevant policies, and aligning education and training outcomes with labor market needs.

A detailed report was also presented during the workshop on the findings of the National Skills Surveys, conducted in collaboration with the World Bank. The report included analytical data and recommendations aimed at supporting policymakers in the areas of planning and development.

The workshop agenda also featured a presentation on the trainee journey within the “Skills Accelerator” initiative, along with its accompanying digital platform, which serves as a digital enabler designed to enhance the efficiency of the targeted workforce.

The workshop concluded with a presentation by the International Labour Organization (ILO), which addressed the sectoral use of skills data, the challenges associated with its application, and showcased international best practices in this field.

This workshop is part of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s ongoing efforts to advance national skills development, enhance the occupational framework, and improve the efficiency of human capital—thereby boosting labor market productivity and aligning with national development objectives.
