The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has issued a guide to "Governance of Sectoral Skills Councils" with the aim of establishing governance for their performance and carrying out their tasks effectively during the current stage, including planning, development, recognition and management of skills, as this comes within the ministry's strategic directions for skills development and the development of professional competencies in the labor market. The guide includes several articles, including the formation of two steering committees headed by His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, and an executive committee headed by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Labor, in addition to defining the roles and responsibilities of the heads and members of the councils and the General Secretariat of the sectoral councils for skills. The sectoral skills councils are one of the Ministry’s initiatives that were approved within the labor market strategy approved by Council of Ministers Resolution No. 254 dated 23/4/1442 AH, which aims to raise the level of skills in priority sectors in the Kingdom by identifying the need for skills in these sectors, and forecasting the future need for skills. Through alignment with the public and private sectors, as well as with the education, training and academies system in the sectors. The sectoral skills councils consist of 12 councils in priority sectors, led by the leading ministries and major companies in the sectors. The memberships of the councils are represented by representatives from ministries, regulatory bodies, the private sector, the National Committee for Labor Committees, and specialized experts, in addition to the Federation of Saudi Chambers, and the majority of the memberships of these councils are from the sector. Priority private sector development in the Kingdom by identifying the skills need for each sector, and predicting future need through alignment with the public and private sectors.
