The Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) recently organized a workshop titled ‘Eligibility conditions for social security benefits’ under the auspices of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shafiei, deputy minister for social security at MLSD, held at the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue in Riyadh. The workshop was attended by a number of representatives from government entities including the Ministry of Justice, the General Authority for Statistics, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Interior and the Citizen Account Program. At the gathering, the participants explored several topics to design mechanisms for assessment indicators in the Kingdom, define capability of family provider and resources, set minimum requirements based on ability of family provider who receive social security benefits, coordinate with government and public sectors to retrieve data on income of family provider as well as activate electronic linkage among them. Additionally, the workshop yielded several recommendations that realize its objectives and activate joint cooperation between the Social Security Department and related entities with the aim of providing excellent services that meet the interest of the society and achieve the aspirations the leadership- May Allah protect them, in addition to holding upcoming sessions. Meanwhile, the gathering was attended by MLSD officials, namely Awad Al-Shahrani, assistant deputy minister for social security, Ali al-Khalaf, director-general of pension and financial assistance, and Saleh al-Dakhil, assistant director of the ministry’s branch in the Riyadh region.
