His Excellency, Dr. Abdullah Nasser Abuthnain, the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor, headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the Doha Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and African labor-sending countries, which commenced its work today, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Doha, Qatar. The event brings together their Excellencies Ministers of Labor, heads and members of delegations and several Arab and international organizations.

During the dialogue, His Excellency the Deputy Minister delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of paying attention to regional and national initiatives and experiences, sharing and learning from regional and national initiatives. He explained that a global understanding of labor market challenges combined with regional and national solutions, makes labor markets more capable of achieving the desired growth. His Excellency also reviewed several initiatives by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to develop the labor market, strengthen the protection of labor relations, and develop them. 

During the meetings, participants will discuss effective governance of migrant labor mobility and recommendations for its future prospects. It is noteworthy that the launch of the Gulf-African dialogue on labor mobility between the two regions aims to provide a common platform for dialogue between African source countries and GCC countries. Through this platform, emerging ideas and experiences will be exchanged, and a dialogue will be conducted on best practices that can enhance regional cooperation efforts, strengthen partnerships aimed at improving the contractual work cycle for migrant labor, and establish human rights-based protection measures that achieve mutual benefit for all parties.

In addition to his participation in the dialogue, His Excellency Deputy Minister Abuthnain also attended the 61st Coordination Meeting of the Council of Labor Ministers of the GCC, which was held on the sidelines of the event. During the meeting, participants discussed the items presented to the dialogue as well as the topics listed on the agenda of the Committee of Labor Ministers of the GCC.
