The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced a 60-day grace period for individuals whose status is listed as "absent from work" prior to December 1, 2024. This extension aims to provide additional time for the rectification of professional workforce statuses in accordance with approved regulations and systems, thereby enhancing the stability of employment relationships.
The ministry clarified that the basic period of interruption from work allows private sector employees to transfer jobs or terminate employment within 60 days. If the employee does not take the necessary actions during this period, their status will change to “absent from work”.
This additional period comes to provide the worker with another opportunity that enables him to move career and engage in a correct labor relationship.
The ministry urges the target group of this initiative to complete the procedures for correcting their status through the "Qiwa" platform within the specified timeframe, while reaffirming its commitment to enforcing regulations and bylaws to enhance labor market stability and contribute to the economic development of the Kingdom.
